Nursing & Therapy

Nursing and Therapy is a job search engine focused in the locations of the job. After having a meeting with the Project Manager and the Designer, we decided to go for a Google Maps + AJAX website, very simple to use.

I had the responsibility of all the technical side: back end, front end, server configuration, etc. The technologies used here where Ruby on Rails + MySQL for server scripting and data storage, Nginx+Mongrel for the application server, and jQuery + AJAX + JSON + Google Maps API for the maps and AJAX interactions.

Basically the application retrieve the data via FTP from the client’s servers once a week, parse the CSV file and fill the tables of the database. The communication with the front end is done with JSON.

The advanced interactions are totally accessible and unobtrusive, doing a graceful degradation in case the user doesn’t have JavaScript enabled.

I had also close communication with the Marketing Analist of this project in order to set up correctly all the user and conversion tracking necessary.

So overall, a very complete project, in which we worked in a really tight deadline, but the result was completely satisfactory.
